Honey Cures Cough, Hay Fever, Diabetes And Infertility

Honey is a natural sweetener but it is best known for its medical benefits. In Ayurveda, it is called “Perfection of Sweet” and recommended as a home remedy for a number of problems especially dry and wet cough. Its advantage is that it can be mixed with anything from milk to juices and used as spreads on bread to cooked with recipes. 

Advantages of Honey for different ailments

Cough

Honey when taken with ginger juice can provide quick relief from both dry and web cough due to chest congestion. It releases the congestion by loosening the thick mucus.

Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1&2)

Honey is a natural sweetener but it is healthy for diabetic people because of low glycemic index. Its impact on blood sugar remains lower in comparison to white sugar. Also, it improves serum insulin level and lowers insulin resistance. 

High Cholesterol

Honey has high antioxidant properties and it has polyphenols that help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and prevents its oxidation to reduce its level in the blood. Also, it improves good cholesterol (HDL). For better results, Honey should be taken with cinnamon powder 1 tsp twice daily after meals and for at least 2 months.

Diarrhea

Honey can help in diarrhea due to its antibacterial properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria that causes diarrhea. In diarrhea conditions, 1tsp Honey should be taken with 1 tsp curd and taken twice a day.

Diabetic foot ulcer

Honey is helpful in controlling cell damage in foot ulcers related to diabetes. It contains antioxidants that reduce inflammation at the wound site and boost healing. 

Infertility

Honey promotes feeling of rejuvenation and virility among young men and women and in this way, boost their fertility. They can take 1-2 tsp of Honey with milk daily before going to bed.

Hay Fever

Local Honey contains traces of pollen grains hence it can make people immune for the pollens that cause hay fever. It is called immunotherapy. Taking 2-3 tsp of honey with warm water twice a day could provide fast relief from runny and itchy nose and itchy eyes.

Precautions with honey

Honey when taken excess amount could lead to nausea, vomiting and even diarrhea. Also, it can erode dental enamel because of its acidic nature. Similarly, it can lower glucose in diabetics and lower blood pressure of heart patients.

How to take Honey?

The viscosity of Honey allows it to mix well with milk, juices and food items. Depending on different conditions, Honey can be taken with ginger powder, cinnamon powder, lemon and milk. It can even be consumed raw.
